Teresa Sdralevich (1969) is a Belgian graphic designer, illustrator, and silk-screen printer whos work mainly addresses social, political and cultural topics. Born in Italy, she now lives and works in Brussels.
She majored in Political Sciences at the University of Bologna and then switched to illustration and design upon emigrating to Belgium. Having published widely throughout Europe, she initially illustrated dozens of books for young readers - in particular putting her stamp on all Italian editions of Eva Ibbotson's exuberant book. With her unique approach to creating books that defy classification and age boundaries, Teresa has illustrated, written and designed many other titles including, La mia Famiglia รจ uno zoo (Minibombo, 2016), The Polish Shoes (La Grande Illusion, 2015) and Il Manuale dell'ospite Perfetto (La Grande Illusion 2013). Her latest book Poster Power! Great Posters and How to Make Them (Cicada Nooks 2017) has been highly praised by the design and publishing community, a 100% handwritten manual that brings together her two passions, drawing, and posters.
In the last few years, Teresa has taken to leading workshops with students and children all over Europe; she focuses on low-fi political posters, or on any other medium that may help creativity spring within the frame of a designer's experience.
Teresa Sdralevich has forged a remarkable career in illustration, poster design, and cover design. Her work utilizes large blocks of color and bold typography. She often engages social, political, and cultural issues, and her approach draws the most out of a simple collection of elements.
