Motherbird is a creative studio focusing on brand identity and design in Melbourne, Australia; their approach to design is to form connections, be empathetic, and to create the unexpected through understanding. They delve deeper than just the looks of brands; they focus so much on the beliefs, the stories, and the core of each brand to build something interesting. Their projects aren’t just about the end products, Motherbird takes you on a journey through each and every one. The designs themselves are so unique and different for every project, you can really see that they’re designing something authentic to suit each brand’s story.
Motherbird was founded in 2009 by designers and close friends Jack Mussett, Chris Murphy and Dan Evans. With a growing reputation as creative young guns, they’ve quickly established themselves as a force within the Australian design industry.
Motherbird work with clients both large and small, these include; MTV, Qantas, Warner Music, Chunky Move, Billy Blue School of Design and Grill’d.
Being on the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) Council, Motherbird are active members of the design community. They contribute to both national and international design publications, recently being commissioned to create the covers of Computer Arts Magazine & Desktop Magazine.
Along with a score of awards, Motherbird recently took out the coveted Qantas Spirit of Youth Award (SOYA) for best nation-wide creative talent under 30. In 2012 Motherbird was named one of the Top 10 Design Forces in the country by Design Quarterly magazine.
