Artist of the Day, December 1, 2023: Oli-B, a Belgian emerging artist, painter (#1972)

Oli-B's work ranges across a huge array of media: acrylic, spray paint as well as digital or screen printing techniques on a wide variety of surfaces, including canvas, paper, wood, walls or even 3D volumes. Visually, it is fluidity that predominates, colours that are emphatic but balance each other; and a composition that binds everything together.

Since his teenage spray paint period he painted what he loved – shapes and colours – and flirt now with urban and contemporary art.

From abstract and figurative shapes charged with vivid colors, Oli-B molds the frontiers of his singular universe, where onirism interweaves with harmony and hope. Each piece writes its story and unveils new facets. This shiny space is animated by the artist’s desire for equilibrium and serenity. When he crosses that frontier, he deploys his ideal and optimistic vision of the world, in opposition to the real image tainted with bitterness that he sometimes has of it.

Oli-B loves the hustle and bustle of big cities and their crowds and uses the public spaces as a playground. Since more than 10 years, in addition to numerous national and international collaborations, He makes his art living by integrating it in the urban jungle through large scale mural painting in Europe, United States and of course Belgium. The inhabitants have always welcomed the presence of these works, emphasizing on the positivity they brought to the public space and the enhancement of their environment through the living art that was implanted there.

Oli-B invites you to his colorful, positive and vivid universe, where shapes, people and other elements born out of his imagination intermingle in an intuitive and spontaneous manner. An imaginary and secluded place, where movements and rhythm are highly important. He makes colors dance and opens you the doors to an environment where the sense are created differently according to the lectures and interpretations.
