Artist of the Day, September 13, 2024: Sandro Chkhaidze, a Latvian emerging artist, painter (#2110)

Sandro Chkhaidze (1969) was born in the city of Kandava, Latvia. In 1987, Sandro entered the Tbilisi Academy of Arts, at the faculty of Graphic Design. In 1992 he returned to Riga, worked as a graphic designer, organized his personal exhibitions in Riga and abroad, founded his advertising company.

Sandro is the author of the design of Latvian money - 1 lat (water lily), as well as the author of the "Monument of the Barricades" located near the Latvian Saeima. He is the author of numerous well-known projects, books and magazine designs. Sandro has been living and working in Tbilisi since 2006. Sandro's teachers were very famous personalities - Vakhtang Rurua, Temo Sulkhanishvili, Aleksandre Sarchimelidze. Today Sandro returns to what he likes the most – painting. But 30 years of experience in the field of advertising still does not give peace of mind... Its reputation is great and customers apply themselves, but that's another story...

About my painting:
This is how I see the world. Stripes are a sort of grid or backbone through which I build my world. Lines or stripes? Of course, stripes, but the main thing is the line. First there is the line, then the stripes, then comes the color, then the plastic, and finally there is freedom. Order and no coincidences, pure colors. Casual art is unacceptable to me. A little deconstruction, but in the right dose, and then your personal reality comes in, which you share without hesitation.
