Ricardo Rousselot (1936) is an Argentinian designer and calligrapher. After several years living and working in Chicago and a few more at Buenos Aires, he was seduced by Barcelona, the modernism, the sea, the mountains… and contributed decisively to the renovation of design in Catalonia and in Spain.
Specializing in the arts of writing, development and design of new typefaces, his jobs, especially in the field of packaging stand out by his use of typography, all designs are inspired by his fondness for letters.
Rousselot is considered one of the great masters of handwriting of the 20th century and a graphic designer of renowned international prestige. He has been invited by numerous schools to teach classes, workshops and conferences, and is the author of articles on design, typography and handwriting. In the years 2001 and 2003 he was nominated for the "National Design Awards" that recognize those professional trajectories that have excelled in the field of design or innovation in Spain.
His background as a designer was made almost entirely in Chicago, USA. Open to sharing his knowledge with younger generations, he has given conferences and workshops at prestigious schools of Design and in the University of Barcelona .
At the beginning of the 1950s, after studying commerce, he began to work in Buenos Aires in the field of graphic arts. Between 1959 and 1961, he carried out work for companies in Buenos Aires specialized in the field of graphic communication, calligraphic creation, and art direction. In the beginning of 1962 he moved with his family to Chicago where he remained until 1969. He works for leading agencies such as J.W.Thompson, Young & Rubicam.
In 1975, the professional career of Ricardo Rousselot made a new turn in deciding to settle in Barcelona. In 1978, Rousselot created an agency of its own design - "Rousselot Designers" - to respond to the orders of major brands in Catalan and Spanish industry.
In 2000, it refilled the Rousselot agency created in 1978 which is renamed "Grupo Erre Rousselot", specialized in corporate image, branding, packaging and signage.
