Jacek Tofil (1954) is a Polish visual artist and graphic designer based in Warsaw, recognized for his mastery of the poster format and his contemporary continuation of Bauhaus principles
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the graphic design department under the renowned Professor Henryk Tomaszewski. He graduated with honors, earning his MFA in 1984.
• For many years, Tofil focused on comprehensive book publishing design for leading Polish publishing houses.
• Poster design became his specialty, participating in numerous international events and earning several awards and distinctions.
• Since 2019, the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus movement, he has dedicated his work to geometric abstraction. He views himself not as an imitator but as a 21st-century continuator of Bauhaus ideas.
• His work often reduces the complexity of life—movement, light, and space—into simple geometric figures.
• He utilizes vector graphics and graphic editing tools (such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop) to create his pieces.
• Despite using digital tools, Tofil explicitly avoids the use of Artificial Intelligence in his creative process.
• Most of his works are printed on high-quality fine art paper in the traditional European poster format of 100x70cm.
• Photography has accompanied his creative life, sometimes merging with his geometric works, such as photos from the 2019 Venice Biennale.
