Welcome to Artist of the Day Nº. 2500! For this celebration I have a great artist not well known yet, and with a lot of talent: Ms Nancy Alexander.
Nancy Alexander (1954) is an American ceramist, painter. Nancy never took any art class until few years ago. As a single mother, her time was to take care of her 2 sons and a successful travel agency.
When I met Nancy, in her mid 60's, she had never even picked up a pencil to draw, taken any art class, or even thought about attempting expressing herself via art. Her first assignment was to paint something (anything) and give it to me. She did a paint by number acrylic painting of me! Since that time (2020), she has been trying all sorts of mediums - drawing, painting, pottery, chase & repoussé, mixed medium, and papier maché. She has sought out mentors along the way - Ms. Kimberly Miller for pottery, Ms Ampha Saengchan for the metal work & Noina Art Studio in Chiang Mai for drawing, Jane Dill Designs for mixed mediums & ARTE in San Miguel for papier mache, and others.
Nancy is fascinated with all of the different mediums she's been experiencing, and is an eager learner!
