Gary Aagaard is an American illustrator that began his professional career shortly after becoming a Society of Illustrators Scholarship Award winner in 1982. His conceptual cover and interior illustrations have appeared in numerous publications including The Village Voice, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Newsday, etc … In addition to his editorial work, he created book illustrations for Reader's Digest Books, Houghton Mifflin, St. Martin's Press, Harcourt Brace and “Emily and the Ostriches” (Rizzoli Publ.), a children's book collaboration with Dan Bernstein.
In today's climate, many would brand his work a product of, gasp, Socialist leanings. To dispel this career-threatening rumor, he offer original art and hand-signed/numbered, limited edition giclees for sale. Thus, I suppose the worst he could be labeled is a Sociatalist.
