Artist of the day, June 29: Ralph Mecke, German photographer

Ralph Mecke (1952) is a German photographer now living in New York and Paris.

Ralph Mecke’s photographic career took off when his portraits of intellectuals and cultural icons were first published in French Vogue. He has been described as, “one of the best Portrait Photographers in the world.- Giorgio Armani, Keira Knightley; his black and white photography is of the highest quality.”

Ralph’s career has been characterized by his refusal to specialize in just one area of photography. After gaining his reputation in portraiture, he began concentrating on fashion and beauty.  “Ralph Mecke’s fashion pictures capture the fascinating magic of emotion.”
