Artist of the day, November 7: Raymond Logan, an American painter (#832)

Raymond Logan was born and raised in Southern California. Being that kid everybody remembers drawing or doing some sort of art, he developed as an artist in that wonderful vacuum known as childhood. Raymond went on to attend Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He then did a couple tours of duty in graphic design and advertising.

After twenty years and a chance encounter with a Cezanne self-portrait in Nashville, he felt compelled to pick up a brush and paint. In December of 2007, Raymond committed to the practice of daily painting, or "almost daily painting" as he refers to it, posting his work with accompanying commentary to his blog and subscriber list. He credits his subscribers with helping to, "... keep my nose to the grindstone." While focusing primarily on still life, he also does figurative work along with an occasional series of landscapes. Raymond's practice has landed his dailies in private collections around the world.
