Artist of the day, January 3, 2020: Sue Beatrice, an American sculptor (#881)

Sue Beatrice resides in Sea Cliff, NY and has been a professional artist for over 30 years. Sue attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts before joining The Franklin Mint where she honed her talents and broadened her knowledge of sculpture. After leaving there she focused on a freelance commercial sculpting career working for a variety of clientele including Disney, The Danbury Mint, Waterford Crystal, Hasbro Toys, Warner Bros., Dreamworks, Nickelodeon, Frankford Candy & Chocolates, Roseart, Crayola, Jim Henson Corporation, and many more.

Sue's artwork covers many specialties from commercial illustration to fine art on canvas but sculpture is her main focus. She is comfortable working in a wide range of mediums including clay, wax, metal, cement, sand, pumpkin, and mixed media and on any scale from micro-miniature to monumental. In the non-commercial realm, Sue also owns All Natural Arts, a venue for selling her unusual and unique steampunk and nature-inspired antique pocket watch sculptures as well as asher paintings, and other personal art forms.

Sue's watch sculptures are created with antique parts and combine the beauty of the delicate inner workings of the timepieces with a variety of themes ranging from nature, love, mortality and even scenes from history. Her one-of-a-kind designs are sought after by galleries and collectors all over the world.

In addition, Sue also works in the ephemeral arts carving with Sand Sculpt USA, Pumpkin Sculpt USA, and Villafane Studios.  Sue has carved several world record-breaking pumpkins - the largest in the world, largest in Asia (at Ocean Park, Hong Kong), and largest on Long Island, NY. In these mediums, she is best known for her depictions of realistic and whimsical animals and mythological creatures. Sue also joined forces with CityCakes to carve a 6 ft tall unicorn cake for MTV.
