Born in Versailles and self-taught painter, Jean-Baptitse Boyer (1990) is part of the young generation of contemporary painting: the one that moves away from the "all abstract" and the concept to create a contemporary art both woven with today's references and know-how established for centuries.
Put yourself naked J. Boyer does it both with modesty and frankness in his canvases where painting appears as an intimate space but also a territory protecting it and sheltering it from the madness of the world. She unfolds her states of mind imbued with melancholy, a feeling reinforced by the choice of a restricted color palette where the ochres and mineral tones dominate. The subjects come out of the darkness, in the manner of Caravaggio and Courbet, revealed by the light whose quest is like an obsession for the artist.
His painting is both terribly out of time and well anchored in our time, paradox that is flush on the canvas in the learned balance between the material, the clean decorations, the aesthetics of ruin, the familiar dramaturgy of the history of art and the choice of the subjects represented.
