Jim Henderson is an American fine art photographer, director, and visual designer known for his sharp compositions and deep-rooted documentary exploration of small-town Americana. Before transitioning behind the camera full-time, he spent over two decades working as an award-winning advertising Art Director and Creative Director. This corporate tenure deeply influenced his photography practice, providing him with a meticulous eye for graphic framing and geometric symmetry.
A core segment of Henderson's portfolio documents contemporary American heartland traditions across states like Iowa and South Dakota. Rather than capturing chaotic event highlights, he favors quiet, candid moments, such as fog-laden fair midways at dawn and unposed, behind-the-scenes portraits at regional rodeos.
As an avid landscape and street photographer, Henderson also logs extensive expeditions across natural ecosystems like Sequoia National Park, where he uses a lone human figure to draw contrast against ancient, monumental trees.
