Artist of the Day, May 2, 2025: Melissa Chalhoub, a Lebanese emerging artist (#2268)

Melissa Chalhoub studied filmmaking at the University of Saint Joseph, Lebanon. She directed, edited and sound designed many Experimental short films, translating her love for painting into sound and movement.

She works now as a painter and graphic artist, other than her drawings she has designed album covers, illustrated poems and published a book.

She took part in many exhibitions and art fairs as well as being published in international magazines.

Melissa Chalhoub study emotion, their expression in body language, and the interaction between figures. Using scribbled lines, she chisels onto the paper with the mindset of a sculpture focusing on texture and contrast. “My work focuses on family, human intimacy, the feelings of loneliness, sadness and the concept of being lost in this rapidly changing world”.

Leave us alone until we become one
Love in a bowl
Multitudes within
Night terrors
Not yourself
Soothing your little beast
Standing together
We are everyone
Your are a part of me
A family that stick together
A hoard of men
Attacked
Childhood memory
Church cat
Family unity
It takes a village to build a home
