Artist of the day, July 24, 2020: Trần Tuấn Việt, an award-winning Vietnamese photographer (#1050)

Trần Tuấn Việt (1983) is an award-winning Vietnamese photographer, currently based in Vietnam. He is a contributing photographer for National Geographic and Google Arts & Culture, an online art and culture platform run by Google . Viet also appears on many TV programs such as Vietnam Television, VTC, NhanDanTV (official television channel of Nhân Dân newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam); VOVTV (television channel of Voice of Vietnam).

 From 1998 to 2001, he attended the High School for Gifted Students, Vinh University. He moved to Hanoi in 2001 and studied architecture at National University of Civil Engineering from 2001 to 2006.

Tran Tuan Viet started as a freelance photographer in 2007. On the early of 2015, Viet joined YourShot, National Geographic’s photo community and recognized as the most successful Vietnamese photographer in this community in 2017. In 2016, Tran Tuan Viet became a contributing photographer for Getty Images. Since 2017, Viet joined the judging panel of many photo contests, such as Canon Photomarathon Vietnam, one of the biggest photography contests in Vietnam. In 2019, Viet joined online exhibit project “Vietnam” for Google Arts & Culture, an online art and culture platform run by Google through its Google Cultural Institute.

In 2017, Tran Tuan Viet won Gold medal on The 9th international artistic photo contest in Vietnam and achieved Vietnam’s Excellence Photography of the Year award. In 2018, he is the winner of Travel category of the 15th Annual Photo Contest, selected from 48,000 submissions submitted by photographers from 155 countries and territories. In 2019, two photos of Viet were finalist in Environmental Photographer of the Year
